Felix was 9. He lived in Germany. He was inspired by Wangari Maathai, a Kenyan environmentalist and Felix wanted to see Germany plant an additional 1 million trees. He started with a presentation at his school and the rest is history! Three years later Germany does have an additional 1 million trees and Felix's friends all around the world - 'Plant for the Planet' - are working in 70 countries. Target 300 has release a report titled - How Kevin Rudd managed to turn solar photo voltaics (PV) into Australia's most greenhouse gas intensive form of energy production. The report outlines how selling of Renewable Energy Certificates under the Solar Credits Scheme burdens owners of solar PV systems with high levels of emissions for relatively little gain. The report concludes the solar credit scheme needs to be replaced.

In 2001 the Australian Government introduced a Mandatory Renewable Energy Target (MRET) scheme. The scheme aims to increase the uptake of renewable energy in Australia's electricity supply.
In Newcastle, the world's biggest coal port, community groups have been campaigning against the doubling of coal exports from Newcastle Harbour. This campaign has involved large community protests and nonviolent direct action to shut down the coal industry.

On Sunday November 23rd at 11.45am, join the Warburton Community, the Yarra Ranges Shire Council, Melburnians and Environmental Groups as they walk through Warburton to demonstrate opposition to the logging of our water catchments.
