Blair urges binding gas cuts by all countries.

"We have reached the critical moment for the decision on climate change," Blair told a meeting of senior officials from the world's top 20 greenhouse gas emitters in suburban Tokyo.
"Even on the mildest application of precautionary principles, failure to act on climate change now would be deeply and unforgivably irresponsible," he said......
NEWS - Zero Emissions at Corinbank Festival
Adrian Whitehead attended the 2 day Corinbank Festival near Canberra to take part in Green space.
A stall was run and two talk were given as part of panel presentation and discussions.
The event was run from Fen 29th to March 2nd and had a great mix of new and traditional music on two sperate stages.

Recent record melting of the North Pole's summer ice has show that the global emergency of climate change is here now.

NEWS - Climate Group Occupies Coal Plant
A group of protestors hung banners from Loy Yang Power station this morning in protest to highlight the issue of climate change and coal.
"The protest was part of a national day expressing dissent against APEC's disastrous climate policies. We have targeted coal as the worst greenhouse gas polluter."
"Early on this chilly Monday morning, we locked onto the conveyor belts of the dirty brown coal power station called Loy Yang, in Traralgon, Victoria, cutting power generation to half capacity."
NEWS - GetUp Takes on Pulp Mill
Get Up is running a "No Pulp Mill" campaign.
"The proposed Gunns pulp mill in the Tamar Valley represents a major threat to Tasmania’s environment and economy.
Federal Environment Minister Malcolm Turnbull still has the power to veto the development of the pulp mill, and enough public outcry will put him under real pressure to do so.
He has already given interim approval to the mill, but is receiving public comment on the decision until FRIDAY, 31ST AUGUST.
NEWS - Blackle in the Red
A report in the Age (1/8) cast doubt as to Blackle's effectiveness as a energy saver, stating it make little saving or or even increases energy use on LCD screen but acknowledging it does save energy on CRT (old style) screens.
Quoting Darren Yates, an Australian technology journalist they wrote,

Google has set up a low energy search engine to reduce energy used by the users called Blackle.
The Blackle site replaces the white background with black.

NEWS - Zero Carbon Britain by 2027
"A "zero carbon" Britain could be achieved by 2027 if a range of measures were brought in by a government with "strong political leadership", scientists said today.
The main proposal made by the Centre for Alternative Technology report is for the creation of a carbon market based on Tradable Energy Quotas (TEQs).
People would carry their quota of "carbon credits" on an environmental smart card, and have them topped up every year.
But as the country draws closer to 2027, the overall, and therefore also the individual quota, would be reduced.
